Can I use Google photos on my iPhone?

To turn on auto backup in Google Drive, head to Settings, tap on Photos, and then tap the toggle switch to turn on Auto Backup. You can choose whether photo uploads and video uploads will occur over Wi-Fi or a cellular connection or over Wi-Fi only.

Login to Google Drive.

Click on the Settings button ( )

Select Settings.

Make sure Create a Google Photos folder — Automatically put your Google Photos into a folder in My Drive is checked.

Find and select the image you want to move.

Click on the Actions button ( ), and click on Move To

Select Google Photos.

Upload & view files

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Drive app.

Use Google Photos While You’re Offline. You can still use the Google Photos app if you aren’t connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile network. If you have enabled “Backup and sync,” then photos and videos you take while offline will get backed up once you reconnect to a Wi-Fi or mobile network.

Turn on back up and sync

Open the Google Photos app .

Sign in to your Google Account.

At the top, tap Menu .

Select Settings Back up & sync.

Tap “Back up & sync” on or off.

Download all photos or videos

On your computer, go to drive.google.com.

Click Settings Create a Google Photos folder.

In My Drive, find and open the Google Photos folder.

Select the folder you want to download.

Click More Select All Download .

Download the Google Drive app for iOS from the iTunes store.

Set up the Backup and Sync desktop app

To download photos to your device, follow these steps:

Open the Google Photos app .

Touch the photo you want to save to your device.

Touch or click the options menu .

Touch or click DOWNLOAD.

Here’s how to get up and running with Google Photos.

Step 1: Install the Photos app on your devices.

To grab multiple images for downloading from the main Google Photos thumbnail screen, move the cursor to each thumbnail’s upper-left corner until a white checkmark icon appears. Click it to turn the checkmark blue. When you have selected the photos you want, click the More menu icon and choose Download.

Add photos

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .

Sign in to your Google Account.

Open the album.

At the top right, tap Add to album .

Select the items you want to add.

Here’s what I suggest in addition to Benjamin’s answer:

Open your Google Photos app.

Select all the photos you wish to delete.

Delete them.

Open your Photos app (from Apple, not Google Photos)

On the Albums page, scroll down to the bottom and go to the album “Recently Deleted”.

Tap Select on top right.

Tap Recover All.

After an update to Google Photos on Android today, a new button will appear in its settings tab offering to help “Free Up Space.” Tapping it will delete all local photos that have already been backed up by the app. On some Android phones, Google Photos will also be able to delete copies stored on SD cards.

Open the Google Photos app on your mobile device .

Select one or more photos that are on the device.

At the top right, tap on the “3 dots” menu icon.

Select Delete Device Copy.

The Google Photos for iOS app is free. Download and install the app on your iPhone or iPad. If you’ve used any other Google services, including Gmail, use the same credentials.

If you’d like to delete only some pictures from the Google Photos app, then:

Select the desired picture(s)

Tap on the three dots (top right corner)

Tap on “Delete device original”

If needed, allow the deletion from iCloud Photo Library.

If you upload a photo to a Shared Photo Stream, you can remove it from your Camera Roll or iCloud Photo Library without removing it from the shared stream. You’ll still technically have a copy “on” your device, however, but it won’t be displayed in the normal photo timeline, only in the “Shared” view.
