Can I use rubbing alcohol to clean my laptop?

Here’s how to clean your keyboard:

Turn off the laptop and disconnect the battery.

Open the laptop.

How to Clean the Laptop Case

If the case has accumulated dust and buildup, follow these steps to clean:

Use a clean, dry cloth to dust the case.

Use a clean cloth dampened with warm water to wipe it clean.

If sticker residue is present, use isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove the residue.

Use a clean, damp cloth to remove any dirt, grime and oil buildup on the mouse pad. Dampen a cotton cloth or paper towel with water, then add a mild soap. Wring out excess water before wiping down the laptop.

Here’s how to get your smartphone screen nice and clean:

If a dry cloth doesn’t do the job, you’ll need to use a wet one–and that can be tricky.

Put the liquid into a spray bottle, and spray it onto the microfiber cloth.

To clean the screen on your smartphone or tablet, use a soft, lint-free cloth. We suggest you pick up a couple of microfiber cloths. Never use a paper towel or other paper-based towels as they can leave scratches on the screen.

If a key on your laptop keyboard is stuck, slow to respond, or broken, you’ll have to remove the keycap before you can replace or repair it. Insert the tip of your finger or a flathead screwdriver beneath the keycap and lift gently until you feel the keycap unclip from the retainer clip.

There are products on the market specifically for cleaning screens, but one that’s just as good can be made at home. Just mix equal parts rubbing alcohol and distilled water in a spray bottle. Spray a little bit of your cleanser onto the cloth, not the tablet.

Hand washing is often the most straightforward cleaning method, and with microfiber cloths all you need is water! Let the dirty microfiber cloths soak in cool or warm (not hot) water, and use your hands to help agitate the towel and release the dirt and grime. Rinse well and let air-dry.

Wash your microfiber in the washing machine with detergent only. Tumble them dry on low heat or no heat. High heat will literally melt the fibers while fabric softener and bleach will eliminate the electric charge that makes microfiber so effective.

And though the stain may remain, it is on the hide and is not abrasive. After each use a natural leather chamois should be washed completely with clean soapy water, rinsed thoroughly and wrung out repeatedly until clean. It should then be hung up to air dry away from direct sunlight.
