Can I use vinegar to unclog a toilet?

1) Into a clogged toilet filled with standing water, dump 1 cup of baking soda. Let it sink to the bottom. 2) If the toilet doesn’t have much water, add 1 gallon of boiling water to really get things moving. 3) Next, add 2 cups of vinegar slowly, so it won’t fizz over onto your floor.

Pour a healthy amount of liquid soap into your toilet bowl, about half a cup. The soap is denser and heavier than water and should drop to the bottom of the bowl. Let the liquid dish soap sit in the bowl for 20-30 minutes.

Let the bathroom games begin!

STEP 1: Squirt generous amounts of dish soap or shampoo into the clogged toilet.

Then, pour a mixture of 1 c. vinegar and 1. c very hot water down on top of the baking soda. Cover with a drain plug (to keep the reaction down below the drain surface) if you have one and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Flush one more time with a pot of boiling water.

Baking Soda and Vinegar. Baking soda and vinegar are two of the most useful common household products that can be used to clean many things, including hard water stains in the toilet. Pour about a cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and swish it around with a toilet brush. Let it sit for about a minute.

Liquid Plumber will eat away at that wax ring. Then, every time you flush about half the water will make it down the pipe and the other half will leak out across the floor from under the base of your toilet. If you have a clog, try to use a plunger to dislodge it. If this does not work, contact a plumber.

Wear rubber glove – things can get messy – and follow these plunging tips:

Make your first plunge a gentle one. Initially the bell is full of air.

Once you force out the air, plunge vigorously in and out, maintaining the seal.

Be patient.

Keep enough water in the bowl so the toilet plunger stays covered.

After using the plunger to clean a toilet, flush the toilet a few times and use the water to clean the plunger off.¹

Mix detergent and bleach in the toilet water, and swish the plunger around to clean and disinfect it.¹

What you will need to do

Pour 1 cup of water down your drain.

Put the half cup of baking soda down the drain.

Mix in the vinegar with your second prepared cup of water.

Pour in the vinegar/water mixture down the drain with the added baking soda – Things will begin to bubble/fizz, this is good, it means things are working!

Pour a 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1 cup of vinegar. The vinegar will react with the baking soda causing it to fizz and dissolve the hair. Plug up the drain to prevent the chemical reaction from fizzing out of the drain by using a drain stopper or pieces of duct tape.

The neutralization reaction between an acid and a base produces a salt and water. Bleach can dissolve any fiber that has acidic properties. Next time you have a bathroom sink, shower, or bathtub draining slow try pouring a cup of liquid bleach into the drain. Bleach dissolves hair and it takes a bit of time.

Bleach is a powerful, toxic substance that should be used carefully and properly, and pouring it down a drain is not a proper use. Bleach can react with other substances in your pipes, potentially release fumes, and further plug up the system. Pouring bleach down them will do much more harm than good.

Try bleach. If you are connected to a public sewer system and not to a well or septic tank, you can use bleach to both clean and deodorize a clogged sink. Pour 1 cup (250 ml) of undiluted bleach directly down the sink drain. Turn your sink on and let water rush into the drain.

Instead considering pouring a half bottle of white vinegar down your drain every three months to keep clogs from forming. Culinary weblog Chow recommends pouring the half bottle down your drain, let it sit for 10 minutes, and then flush with hot water.
